Junior students at Heritage College will enjoy imaginative and creative play this spring, with an upgraded Naturescape playground thanks in part to a grant from Hawaiian’s Giving Box Appeal.

The prize money was awarded as part of Hawaiian’s annual charity appeal benefitting Anglicare WA and Foodbank WA.

Heritage College’s playground upgrade offers a space for kids to imagine, create, learn and play, with a new limestone wall constructed in addition to netting, ensuring safe play in the area.

From the mud kitchen for creative sand play to the newly-installed running water stream, students can climb logs, enjoy water play, eat lunch on the deck whilst relaxing and enjoying the sound of nature.

Heritage College Principal Steve Higgs said the upgrade would particularly benefit the school’s kindy to Year 4 students by incorporating additional play areas and flora to enhance the students’ imaginative and sensory play experience.

“We are delighted to have won the Hawaiian’s Giving Box Appeal prize, which was a great help with the upgrade,” said Mr Higgs.

Hawaiian General Manager Marketing Kristi Ullrich said the grant money, sponsored by Hawaiian as part of the annual charity drive, was designed to support local schools within the areas Hawaiian operates in.

“We are grateful to the schools that work with us each year in raising funds for Anglicare WA and Foodbank WA, and are glad to be able to contribute to enhancing the educational experience for students in our local community,” said Ms Ullrich.

Hawaiian’s Giving Box Appeal runs annually over the festive season throughout Hawaiian’s shopping centres, commercial properties and within local schools. For more information on the appeal, visit https://givingbox.hawaiian.com.au.
