Over 100 students from Kindergarten through to Year Six at Ashfield Primary School will enjoy an upgraded playground facility in the lead-in to the warmer spring weather, thanks to a grant from Hawaiian’s Schools Program.

Awarded a financial grant by Hawaiian’s Bassendean, Ashfield Primary School has recently installed its new swing set alongside its two existing play structures – an upgrade made following feedback from a recent parent and student survey.

Ashfield Primary School Principal Christiaan Moir said the funding assisted with the purchase and installation of the new swings.

“The students were involved in the decision-making process and decided on the type of swing they would like for the playground,” said Mr Moir.

“This has allowed students to have additional activities to participate in during recess and lunchtimes, and encourages physical activity,”

“The students absolutely love the swings and have become the ‘new big hit’ at Ashfield Primary School.”

Launched earlier this year, the Schools Program by Hawaiian aims to provide support to schools that need it and develop and maintain long-standing partnerships with local schools that positively impact students, parents and teachers.

Hawaiian’s General Manager, Shopping Centres Suburban Portfolio, Scott Greenwood said the Schools Program allowed for Hawaiian to impact its local neighbourhood at a grassroots level.

“Hawaiian is committed to engaging with its local communities, both within our centres and beyond,” said Mr Greenwood.

“Our aim is to continue to build communities within our neighbourhood, and we hope our contribution towards Ashfield Primary School’s playground expansion will allow for many moments of fun and socialising amongst friends.”
