Hawaiian and Barking Gecko Theatre Company are excited to announce their new community partnership.

The partnership will add a beautifully crafted arts program to Hawaiian’s current range of community programs.

Hawaiian CEO Russell Gibbs said we have a long relationship with Barking Gecko Theatre and I’m very pleased to be working together once again.

“Barking Gecko is a cultural icon that has helped shape Australia’s artistic landscape for over 30 years.

“The partnership will help create a positive social impact in our local communities, by providing opportunities for children and young people in Hawaiian’s shopping centres to experience, engage and be inspired by the arts and theatre," Mr Gibbs said.

Barking Gecko Theatre CEO and Executive Producer Helen Hristofski said she is delighted to partner with Hawaiian who is recognised as a successful corporate organisation that has generously supported the WA community for many years. 

“The partnership provides a wonderful opportunity for Barking Gecko to reach out and engage with children and their families with high quality professional theatre and creative experiences, that allow children to use their imagination and see the world and themselves from a different perspective,” Ms Hristofski said.

To launch the partnership, Hawaiian is showcasing Por Por’s Fishpond in a number of shopping centres during the April School Holidays.  Children will get the chance to interact with a beautiful digital art installation and go into the draw to win tickets for their primary school class to Barking Gecko's new show A Ghost in My Suitcase.

A Ghost in My Suitcase is the story of the thrilling journey of twelve-year-old Celeste, a young Australian girl with Chinese and French heritage.  Celeste visits China for the first time to scatter her mother’s ashes, but when she arrives, she’s thrown into a terrifying world of ghost hunting and to survive she must discover who she truly is.
