Congratulations to the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research for raising just under $900,000 with the Hawaiian Walk for Women’s Cancer last weekend.

Around 450 people took part in this year’s event, walking either 42km or 30km from UWA, to Claremont Quarter, Hawaiian’s Mezz Shopping Centre, The Park Centre and finishing back at UWA.

Hawaiian Chief Operating Officer Mike Heath said Hawaiian is extremely proud to have been involved once again helping support research into finding a cure for hard to treat cancers affecting women, mainly breast and ovarian cancers.

“This is the third year Hawaiian has not only sponsored the event, but also registered a team of 14 walkers who personally raised a combined amount of just under $62,000, which is an outstanding effort.

“Hawaiian’s decision to partner with Perkins is quite personal, as a few of our team members have experienced the trauma of cancer themselves or within their immediate family.

“If the support and funds we provide helps just one person, that is good start,” Mr Heath said.
