Our future Olympic champions took to centre court at Perth Arena during the Perth Wildcats game against the Sydney Kings.

Part of Halftime with Hawaiian, the team from Special Olympics WA got the chance to step on to the stage of their heroes and entertain the crowd during the halftime break.

The team has recently been selected to represent WA at the Special Olympics National Games in Adelaide in April.

Outi Vilko, Special Olympics WA, Nationals Head Coach said the Halftime at Hawaiian opportunity was a great experience and preparation for the team in the lead up to the games.

“The team of 16 athletes with special needs will represent WA at the national games, following four years of extensive training to make the team,” Miss Vilko said.

Halftime at Hawaiian is a community initiative run by Hawaiian in partnership with the Perth Wildcats, providing the opportunity for junior basketballers to play at Perth Arena in front of thousands of Wildcats fans.

This unique and memorable experience forms part of the company’s community program, which aims to create positive life experiences for the local communities we operate in.
