Hawaiian’s Parmelia House is WA’s Commercial Property of the Year and has also been recognised as one of 2017’s most outstanding commercial refurbishments.

The awards were announced last Friday night at The Property Council of Australia’s 2017 WA Property Awards, held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Parmelia House, located at 191 St Georges Terrace took out two categories; WA Commercial Property of the Year – Up to 20,000sqm and Outstanding Refurbishment Award – B Grade/C Grade.

Hawaiian’s General Manager, Office Buildings Richard Kilbane said Hawaiian is very proud and honoured to be recognised by the WA property industry.

“The $8 million refurbishment began in early 2016 and finished at the end of 2017.

“The project was carefully scoped and planned following conversations with our tenants, a worldwide research process and a review of market variables.

“Underpinning Hawaiian’s company-wide vision of connecting people and places, the project was designed to create an environment that encourages people working in the building to complement their professional life with leisure, exercise and networking opportunities, delivering a modern work place,” Mr Kilbane said.

The major elements of the refurbishment included:

  • Level 1 – new coworking space for FLUX which comprised a mixture of offices and open seating areas for short term lease
  • Ground Floor – fully refurbished lobby inclusive of a new café fitout, building services and finishes and construction of CORE, a mining and resources innovation hub
  • Basement – additional coworking and event space for FLUX, upgraded arcade to the Parmelia Hilton, new tenant only gym and leading End of Trip facility
  • Concierge – introduction of a full-time concierge service

There were 28 awards in total, celebrating the achievements of the WA property industry.
