The West Australian community can now donate much need household items, as well as cash, to help those left devastated by the fierce bush fires in the South West to Hawaiian’s Gold Giving Boxes located at the WA property group’s shopping centres, office buildings and resort.

Following the overwhelming response from their communities during collections on behalf of Foodbank WA and Anglicare WA last month, Hawaiian CEO Russell Gibbs believes customers, tenants and guests will again dig deep at this time when it is most needed.

“It is horrific to see what the communities in the South West are going through and the challenges that will follow for years to come are unfathomable.”

“In light of not-for-profit groups experiencing an overwhelming number of donations from the generous WA public, we recognise the most useful resource Hawaiian provide in the situation is our properties. We have re-installed our Gold Giving Boxes at 11 of our properties to provide the public with accessible locations to donate across the Perth metro area. We will ensure that these goods are delivered directly to the recovery teams on the ground.” Mr Gibbs continued.

One not-for-profit that has reached capacity is St Vincent de Pauls.

“We are grateful that people have recognised us as an important avenue for the distribution of welfare support; however we do not have the capacity or resources to accept any further in-kind donations,” St Vincent de Paul CEO Mark Fitzpatrick said.

“If the Perth public are able to deliver their donations to alternative locations, like Hawaiian’s shopping centres, it most certainly alleviates the pressure.” Mr Fitzpatrick continued.

Hawaiian has been working with the Waroona Recovery Committee. The Committee have taken up the opportunity to commence collecting household items with the help of Hawaiian offering their properties as drop off locations across the Perth metro area. Collected items will help the community start rebuilding their lives when they return to their homes or alternative accommodation.
